The EHS Performance Measurement and Strategic Planning (PMSP) Division is responsible for conducting agency level programmatic EHS assessments, compiling and presenting metrics (EHS performance) and spearheading strategic development and continuous improvement of the Agency-wide EHS Program.  As part of this effort, the Division develops and maintains a comprehensive facility listing and schedule for upcoming EHS facility assessments.  The Division also manages a database of findings that are generated from individual EHS facility assessments.  These findings are currently stored in an Action Item Tracking System (AIT) database.  OEHS developing AIIMS software (CRM-based) to replace the AIT and is currently preparing

for the implementation of this new software. This new software will also include a listing of all facilities by functional and geographical arrangement.   The implementation process is divided for two major parts -

Incidents Investigation and Audit Process. Audit portion of the AIIMS system is expected to commence after Incident Investigation, which is currently in the full development phase.  In addition, PMSP is spearheading Management Systems development.


The selected interns will perform the following tasks: 

1. Reviewing, consolidating and comparing an existing OEHS policies and

procedures against published Management System standards and identify gaps.

2. Providing general support and assistance with PMSP division initiatives in Policy development, planning targeted EHS assessments, researching and incorporating new techniques in current EHS assessment protocol, developing guidance(s)/checklists, developing Agency-wide Strategic Goals.

3. Providing general support and assistance with the ongoing development and

implementation of the new software database system (e.g. preparing and

reviewing written work flows for findings, report escalation procedures,

correspondence on software implementation, etc.,).

4. Assist with routine unit activities of the PMSP Division, including EHS metrics review for QA/QC,

regulatory research and report preparation. The interns will work under general guidance from the PMSP Director or



Preferred Skill: experience in programming and familiarity with Management Systems. 


This is a paid position.


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the graduate level.
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing

 Selection Criteria:

  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong Analytical skills - Knowledge/familiarity of OSHA, EPA and other related environmental health and safety regulations and consensus - Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
