The New York City Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Police and Security, Security Engineering Unit is responsible for highly technical and supervisory activities in the design, implementation enhancement, maintenance, and analysis of electronic and physical security systems. 


The selected candidate will be assisting with the review of engineering drawings and designs, research into new technologies, and development of security systems. Additional responsibilities will include assisting engineers with documentation, scanning and reviewing drawings, performing site and facility assessments. 


This position is located in Valhalla, NY.  Some field work will be required.  


This is a paid position.


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level                                 majoring in in engineering and have taken several engineering classes. 
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing 

 Selection Criteria:

  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
