The Bureau of Water Supply manages, operates, and protects New York City's upstate water supply system
to ensure the delivery of a sufficient quantity of high quality drinking water. The Bureau is also responsible for the overall management and implementation of the provisions of
the City's $1.5 billion Watershed Protection Program and for ensuring the City's compliance with the provisions of the Filtration Avoidance Determination. This includes monitoring the distribution
reservoirs and distribution system for water quality parameters on a regular basis. The Distribution Water Quality research intern will assist with the lead testing program related
to data compilation and analysis. The main project objective for the intern will be to assist with data entry of at-the-tap lead testing historical results from various data sources/formats, to perform data entry quality control checks and data validation.
The intern will also perform GIS based information collection including geocoding and data analysis.
Additional tasks may include assisting with data compilation and management. Candidate will be responsible for adhering to and complying with all environmental,
health and safety laws, Agency policies, rules, and regulations. This position would be ideal for a student who is pursuing a degree in environmental and/or
health science or environmental engineering field.
