The Bureau of Water Supply manages, operates, and protects New York City's upstate water supply system to ensure the delivery of a sufficient quantity of high quality drinking water. The Bureau is also responsible for the overall management and implementation of the provisions of the City's $1.5 billion Watershed Protection Program and for ensuring the City's compliance with the provisions of the Filtration Avoidance Determination.
Working in Wastewater Operations under the direction of the Chief of Wastewater Operations and assigned supervisor, the selected candidate will assist the Engineering and Instrumentation Specialist staff with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and possibly Electronic Operation and Maintenance Manual (EOM), AutoCAD preparation and updates of critical drawings. Typical tasks include: writing and entering task descriptions, safety and tool lists and, learning and using various computer software packages to update create the architecture of the CMMS and/or EOM (to make it user friendly for supervisory staff to generate reports from CMMS), updating tracking tables, scheduling meetings, and drafting meeting minutes, shadowing and communicating with field staff and supervisors to add tasks to CMMS. This will allow opportunity to learn the day to day operations and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plants and possibly work on creation of an inventory system through CMMS. Occasionally the selected candidate will assist with various field verifications, surveys, and related inspections for depending on the projects for project construction or equipment replacement active during the internship. Candidates will also likely have opportunity to go out with collection system maintenance
crews assisting with data recording during smoke testing or camera inspections. Selected candidate will be responsible for adhering to and complying with all environmental,
health and safety laws, Agency policies, rules, and regulations.
Assignment is located in Greene County NY without ready access to mass transit options.
