Overview

The Bureau of Water Supply manages, operates and protects New York City's upstate water supply system to ensure the delivery of a sufficient quantity of high quality drinking water.  The Bureau is also responsible for the overall management and implementation of the provisions of the City's $1.5 billion Watershed Protection Program and for ensuring the City's compliance with the provisions of the Filtration Avoidance Determination.

 

The selected candidate will work out of the Sutton Park office and assist senior engineers in performing the following tasks: conduct asset site visits for the purpose of scoring assets; create new capital projects; attend design progress and construction issues and tasks meetings - taking meeting notes and creating action item tables; review consultant invoices for various on call design contracts; create draft business case summaries; review engineering specs and plans prepared by design consultants under the direction and mentor-ship of junior engineers; navigate through Ebuilder to collect project information and facilitate the completion of bureau workflows.

Selected candidate will be responsible for adhering to and complying with all environmental, health and safety laws, Agency policies, rules, and regulations.

 

This is a paid position.

Qualifications

  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in with coursework in Computer Science and/or engineering or other related field of study.
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing 

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Computer skills including MS Excel, MS Access, PI, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Contribute, Autodesk AutoCAD as well as JAVA and other website programming languages.
  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
