The Bureau of Environmental Planning and Analysis (BEPA) Office of Integrated Water Management has an exciting opportunity for a talented Graphic Design Intern to spearhead the layout and graphics of New York City’s 2018 Water Demand Management Plan.

The Water Demand Management Plan sets forth the City’s goals and strategies for reducing New York City’s water demand through efficiency projects citywide, partnering with City agencies and offering new incentives like the On-Site Water Reuse Grant Program. 

Reporting to the Water Demand Management Program Manager, the candidate will be responsible for developing layout and graphics for the final plan, using data visualization to effectively message how much water has been saved through ongoing program implementation and how future programs will supplement savings.  The selected candidate is expected to perform typical tasks:

• Create report structure and layout in InDesign and produce graphics in InDesign and Excel

• Produce compelling data visualizations and conduct data analysis to communicate water savings

• Other tasks as needed, including but not limited to mapping


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the graduate level.
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing 


Selection Criteria:

  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
