The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all facilities related to the treatment of sewage, including wastewater treatment plants, collections facilities, wastewater laboratories, harbor vessels and sludge dewatering facilities.


The selected candidate will work with engineers in the Asset Management Section in the development of an Asset Management Program that will minimize asset life cycle costs, forecast maintenance, repair, and replacement requirements for a desired level of service. Primary tasks include maintaining and managing asset data from BWT’s CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), extracting data for analysis, and conducting analysis. 


This is a paid position.


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in mechanical engineering.
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing

  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; research capabilities; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
