The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment is responsible for maintaining and improving harbor-wide water quality through efficient and reliable operation of the City’s wastewater treatment plants and its wastewater collection system. 


The selected candidate will assist engineers in field investigations at different wastewater facilities and work with engineers in the research for engineering solutions, developing plans and specifications for contract work. The selected candidate will also assist engineers in preparation of design drawings, field inspection report, cost estimates, making electronic copy of existing drawings and documents, etc. The selected candidate may also help to oversee construction projects, to determine if the work complies with the contract specifications and to monitor progress against established time-lines.   


This is a paid position.  


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in electrical engineering.
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing 


Selection Criteria:

  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
