The Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations is responsible for the operation, maintenance and protection of the City's drinking water and wastewater collection (sewer) systems, the protection of adjacent waterways, and the development and protection of the Department's Capital Water and Sewer Design Program.  The selected intern will work within the Water and Sewer Operations Engineering Division on water and sewer modeling, plan review, database management, cross connections review. The intern will perform work associated with data collection, file management, modeling and design review. Individual should be proficient in ArcGIS and have general understanding of hydraulic analysis.


This is a paid position.


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in  civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering. 
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing 


Selection Criteria:

  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
