This intern will assist the Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Staff in cascading the official DEP Strategic Plan to field operations and other DEP geographic locations. The intern will contribute, learn approaches and implement strategies to engage employees all across DEP’s geographic locations not only in understanding the Agency’s mission, vision, values and goals but in identifying how their daily work contributes to the success of the Plan. Specifically, the intern will facilitate logistics of outreach sessions, develop associated communications and materials, support on-site logistics, record feedback during outreach sessions, track participation and summarize each session for Executive review.

The intern will also distribute, collect and analyze outreach evaluations surveys.

The intern will support a broad array of activities including the administrative tasks required to embed quality in each outreach effort. 


Preferred Qualities:  Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience planning events and handling logistics, report writing, developing and coordinating materials including PowerPoint presentations, detailed-oriented, ability to work effectively as a member of a team and interest in employee engagement and organizational development.


This is a paid position.


  • Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate/graduate level.
  • Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Student must have at least a junior class standing, academic coursework in strategic planning, public administration, organizational development and/or related areas, is a plus but not required.


Selection Criteria:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), good interpersonal skills, experience with Microsoft tools, ability to work well with minimal supervision and passion for employee engagement.


  • Strong writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; familiarity and/or experience with computers/software; leadership skills; self-motivation; and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
